John Sherwyn "Buck" Whitmore age 77 passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, in Arcadia, FL. He was born July 15, 1946, in Miami, Florida to the late Merritt and Lucille Whitmore. John met the love of his life, Barbara in 8th grade, and was happily married for 55 years.

John was a proud Veteran. He served in the US Army in Vietnam. He was a lineman for FPL for 38 years.

Once he retired, he became an avid rebuilding classic cars and participating in car shows at McDonalds on Wednesdays. But his biggest accomplishment and love was his family. John will be missed by many families and friends.

John is survived by his daughter Kimberly(Tod) Baldwin in Arcadia, FL, his brother Tommy (Susan) Whitmore in Arcadia, FL his grandchildren Stephanie (Kevin Coleman)in Okeechobee, Corey(Brooke) Maxson in Arcadia, FL and Chelsea Whitmore in High Springs, FL , his nieces Lisa(Kyle)Gregory in Chaska, MN, April (Barry) Williams; his nieces Mirinda and Jennifer Whitmore of Arcadia, FL and Army buddy and lifelong friend Tommy (Gayle) Richards of Whitwell, TN.

He is preceded in death by wife Barbara, his parents Merritt and Lucille (Gilley), his son Sherwyn and his brother Al.
