Obituary

John Kenneth Nicholson, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025. He was born in Avon Park, FL to Louie Nicholson and Opal Hawkins Nicholson and lived in Hardee County his entire life.

He was a graduate of Hardee High School and had retired from the Elberta Crate & Box Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wauchula and Exalted Ruler at the Elks Club. Through the years he served in Law Enforcement and Manager of Sears, as well as City Commissioner in Bowling Green, FL and was a Veteran of the United States Navy.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, Dad, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents Louie and Opal Nicholson and brother Jim Nicholson.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara J. Nicholson and children Cindy (Johnny) Thornton of Sebring, FL and John K. (Donia) Nicholson Jr. of Zolfo Springs, FL. as well as 2 grandchildren, Courtney (Holden) Nickerson and Danielle (Matt) Abbott and 3 great grandchildren, Piper Nickerson, Bennett Nickerson and Charleigh Abbott.

In lieu of flowers the family requests Memorial Contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice House, Sebring, FL.

There is a graveside service on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at the Bowling Green Cemetery at 10:00AM. Pastor Ellis Cross will be officiating.
