Obituary

John Henry Corbin, age 92 passed away August 3, 2024 in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born in Jefferson County Pennsylvania to Robert Milton Corbin and Mable Postelwaite on November 7, 1931. John served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Franklin, North Carolina, and a member of the Mighty Men's Missions Group of Franklin, North Carolina for many years. He moved his family in 1966 from Youngsville, PA to Florida, where he started as an appliance repair man for Sears. He married Olive Jenkins in 1984 and they resided in Bradenton Florida until his retirement in 1993. John and his wife Olive built a beautiful home in the mountains of Franklin, North Carolina where they made lasting friendships and served in their Church.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and listening to bluegrass music.  John's family will remember him as a good provider, involved father, and witty storyteller.

John is survived by his children Vonnie Daniels (Ed) from Port Charlotte, Nancy Corbin from Arcadia, Florida, Robin Hawkins (Johnny) from Arcadia, Florida, Connie Herren (John) from Arcadia, Florida and Alton Jenkins from New Stanton, PA, sister Shirley Hooker (Jerry) from Warren, PA., ten grandchildren Tony Haag, Sean Daniels, Tom Whisnant, Amy Wolf, Misty Payne, Johnny Bushey, Lori Fussell, Lisa Daniels, and Tom Daniels, and fifteen great grandchildren, and niece Gail Alexander from New York.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Olive Corbin, and step granddaughter Lisa Herren.

His service will be Saturday August 31, 2024 at 11am at Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home in Arcadia.
