Joanne
Rider
July 5, 1946 – February 10, 2018
JoAnne Rider, age 71, long time resident of Arcadia, Florida, passed away after a long, brave battle with cancer on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Joanne will be forever remembered and loved dearly by her best friend and soulmate, Jim; as well as their loving children Heidi, Michelle, and Peter, by her Grandchildren Heather, Ashley, Austin, and Logan, her Great Grandchildren Aubrey, James, and Kaylee. Joanne was preceded by her brothers Johnny and Billy, and is survived by her sister Christine. She will also be forever remembered by her nieces, nephew and extended family and dear friends.
Joanne loved socializing in the community, gathering with close friends, and most of all, spending time with family. Joanne had a few other loves, some of which include her Green Bay Packers and Sheepshead cards.
Those who knew Joanne, always felt loved and welcomed no matter the circumstance, because of her caring demeanor. She had a smile that could light up a room.
In Honoring Joanne's wishes, there will be no funeral services. In Lieu of personal donations or flowers, on behalf of the family, we ask that you continue the fight and donate for a cure to end cancer. Donations can be made to Strolling 4 A Cure or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
Jo's commitment to helping others fight cancer was very evident in the years she spent supporting "Relay for Life" and more recently supporting "Strolling 4 A Cure" to help those in her local community with cancer expenses.
Her many years with the Eastern Star in Arcadia was one of her many passions as well as volunteering to teach cooking to local 4-H groups. Costal Conservation Assoc. was another love helping youth to learn fishing. Jo's other talents included writing many articles for the Masonic Lodge.
Her many years traveling with Jim were some of her most treasured times, especially Alaska, and walking the "Mighty Mac Bridge" in Michigan. The walls of Joanne's home are lined with many awards and certificates from the many accomplishments of her life. She never left you without saying "I love you"!
Special thanks to Pastor Louie at the Trinity United Methodist Church for his support and the many friends who have been so compassionate and caring through Joanne's cancer battle.
