Jo Ann Maddox Garner, 82, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, in Lake Placid, Florida. She was born in Pahokee, Florida on June 14, 1941, to the late  Aubry & Thelma Hunter.

She lived in Wauchula, Florida for 42 years, the last 9 years in Lake Placid, Florida. Jo Ann graduated from Sebring High School in 1959. She was employed for 21 years at Wauchula State Bank. Jo Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wauchula, and American Cancer Society.

She enjoyed painting, flower arranging, jewelry design, shopping, collecting ''stuff'' and spending time with her family and friends. Her major accomplishment in life was to share the gospel with everyone, including perfect strangers, and lead them to the Lord. She loved people and took every opportunity she could to strike up a conversation wherever she happened to be. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by son Michael Todd Maddox(Kitty) of Zolfo Springs, Florida; brother Glenn Hunter ( Rachel) of Tallahassee, Florida and sister Shirley Spaulding ( Lee) of Lake Placid, Florida. Two grandchildren; Dustin Maddox (Lydia) and Wyatt Maddox, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Aubry Wilson Hunter; Her mother Lois Hunter, her first husband Jeff Maddox, of 34 years, her second husband Rusty Garner.

Visitation will be Tuesday August 8, 2023 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 205 N. 9th Avenue Wauchula from 10:00-11:00Am, Services will be at 11:00 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel, Burial to follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Fort Meade, Florida.
