Jimmy Earl Dickens, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 in Sebring, Florida. He was born on March 18, 1942, in Lebanon, Tennessee to Joseph Earl Dickens and Minnie Pearl Faye Andrews.
He lived in Wauchula, Florida for 65 years. After high school he served in the United States Navy. After returning to Hardee County, he worked in several occupations before settling in at the Wauchula Post Office where he retired after a long career. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wauchula. He was a member of the American Legion (Color Guard), golfed, loved movies, canoeing, eating out, traveling, and most of all visiting with the grand and great grand kids. He will be remembered as someone with quick wit and a big smile
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Fay Dickens, mother Faye Andrews Vandiver, and sister Brenda Terrell.
He is survived by his daughters Karen Dickens of Navarre, and Charlene Dickens of Cocoa Beach; stepsons Chris (Mary) Idsardi of Wauchula and Kenny Idsardi of West Palm Beach; and nephew Wayne Roe of Springfield, Ohio. Jimmy had 5 grandchildren, Sarah (Kyle) Whiddon of Wauchula, Bo (Lauren) Idsardi of Spokane, Washington, Michael (Lauren) Rain of Holmes Beach, Chelsea Idsardi of Bradenton, and Catlyn Idsardi of Bradenton. Jimmy also had 5 great-grandchildren, Hattie Whiddon, Jay Idsardi, Ruth Idsardi, Jackson Rain, and Owen Rain.
Memorial Contributions (in lieu of flowers) may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice of Sebring, FL.
The visitation will be Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:00-11:00am at Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel 205 N. 9th Ave Wauchula, Florida. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am and burial at Wauchula City Cemetery.
