Jessie M. Bowling, age 92, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Port Charlotte surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 18, 1917 in DeKalb County, AL. and moved to Arcadia 54 years ago from there. She was of the Baptist faith. Jessie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister and will be missed by her family very much. She enjoyed many interests, fishing, gardening in her yard where she grew many beautiful flowers, crocheting, dancing; she also played the piano and guitar. She is survived by three daughters; Dorothy Dot (Charlie) Welch of Arcadia, FL, Mearilyn M. King of Cairo, GA, and Deborah Osborne of N. Fort Myers, FL.; three sons, Hubert Bowling of Arcadia, FL, Lonnie Ray (Letha) Bowling of Lakeland, FL and Ricky Bowling of Port Charlotte, FL, one sister Durene Koger of AL; twenty four grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Elmer E. Bowling, and four sons; Joe Allen Bowling, Edward Dewayne Bowling, Elmer L. Bowling and Fletcher Dale Bowling. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Funeral services will be Friday, May 14, 2010 at 11:00AM at the chapel with Pastor Kenneth Holcomb officiating.
