Jerry Lee White, age 70, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his home with his beloved family at his bedside. Jerry was born May 12, 1952, in Dayton, TN to his parents Howard and Laura Harwell White. Jerry's family, (mom, Stepdad, two sisters, Linda and Nina) moved to Ft. Ogden, FL area when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Desoto County High School with the Class of 1970. He worked in construction for two years after graduation. He decided to join the U.S. Army in 1972, advancing to the rank of SP4 and receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1978. After his military commitment, Jerry began working for Desoto Correctional Institution, where he gave four years of dedicated service. Jerry began a new career in 1978 with Golden Groves in 1978 as a harvesting foreman. He spent the next 37 years learning the ins and outs of the harvesting and hauling parts of the citrus business. In 2007, he was advanced to Harvesting Manager at Orange- Co. LP before retiring in 2015.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, swimming, riding his grandchildren on his motorcycle, working on the motorcycle when needed, and spending quality time with his family.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Maria Capiro White, Arcadia, FL, sons, Jimmy White, Steven White, and Chris (Kelly) White, and a step daughter, Cristina (Tim) Dyal, fourteen grandchildren, Dustin White, Kyle Blakely, Sidney (Roberto) Garcia, Eli Dyal, Levi Osceola, Emily Dyal, Leigha Osceola, Sean (Sonia) White, Summer White, Kayla White, Morgan White, Amber White, Rayna White, and Hunter White; and one great grandchild, Elliot White; sister Linda Glass and brother-in-law John Daughtrey. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, one sister Nina Daughtrey and a brother Fred Hensley.
A" Celebration of Life" for Jerry Lee with be held at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 No. Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia, FL from 5:00pm until 7:30Pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2022
The U.S. Army will render military honors for Jerry at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.
