Jerome Eldred, 66, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008. Jerome was born in Toledo, Ohio, Jan. 19, 1942, moving here from Wauchula, Fla., in 1968. Jerome had been a driver for Hayes Medical Transport in Arcadia, until his health began to decline. He had worked at Central Maloney Transformer Co., Arcadia, until the company closed its doors. He also worked at G. Pearce Wood Memorial Hospital until it was forced to close. Jerome was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U. S. Army. He enjoyed tinkering with electrical appliances and computers. He also enjoyed camping and being outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Jewell Eldred of Arcadia; two daughters, Marcia Martin of Arcadia and Terri (Paul) Nelson of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five sisters, Mary Eldred of Sandusky, Ohio, Thelma Scherzer of Swanton, Ohio, Donna Ramey of Delta, Ohio, Dora Frontbarger of Sumter, S.C., and Brenda Cunningham, Littleton, Colo.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
