James Wendell Whidden passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024. He was born on September 28, 1941, in Lakeworth, Florida to William and Frances (Kirkland) Whidden. He had lived in the community for 10 years. He graduated from High School in 1958 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He retired from his job in County Government and was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the Paynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

He will be remembered as a loving father, son, uncle and brother. He faithfully studied the Bible and was a good, loving Christian man. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; brother Nicky Whidden and sister, Christine Akers.

He is survived by daughter, Jami Lynne Whidden; his sister Sylvia Wingate; and brothers Clinton, Phillip and Michael Whidden. He has 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The Visitation will be on Friday, February 9, 2024, in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home at 205 N. 9th Avenue, Wauchula, FL 33873, from 10:00AM-11:00AM, the Service will follow at 11:00AM. The Burial will follow at Hart Cemetery, 1691-1975 Maude Road, Wauchula, FL.
