James Edward Himes, 93 of Parrish, Florida, formerly of Somerset and Erie Pennsylvania, passed on August 28, 2022, at HCA Florida Fawcett Memorial Hospital, in Port Charlotte, Florida.

He was a 1947 graduate of Cathedral Prep, Erie, Pennsylvania and was employed by GTE Corporation (now Verizon) for 41 years, retiring in 1988.

He was born January 28, 1929 in Meadville, Pennsylvania son of Theresa Elizabeth (Hogue) and Charles Gerald Himes.  He was a loving and devoted husband to Jeanne Ann (Carder) Himes and a great dad "Pop, Poppie and Daddy-O" to their surviving four children. They are Diane Elizabeth (Robert) Blank of Arcadia, Florida, Linda Marie Himes (Vincent) of Ligonier and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, John Charles (Kathy) Himes of Altoona, Pennsylvania, and James Andrew (Dalene) Himes of Somerset, Pennsylvania.  He also leaves behind his close companion Shirley Swenson of Parrish, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jeanne, his parents, brother Walter Vincent, and sisters Marie and Margaret and by remarriage, Nancy Minton of Parrish, Florida.

There will be no viewing or visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
