Jack Dempsey Lyons, age 79, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 in Port Charlotte surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 31, 1930 in Arcadia, FL and a lifetime resident. Jack was of the Baptist faith and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Arcadia. Jack retired from the US Air Force after 22 years of service as a Master Sergeant., serving our country during Viet Nam. Jack was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed very much. Jack s favorite pastime was fishing. He is survived by his wife, No Thi Phung Lyons of Arcadia, FL., three sons, Lynn T Lyons of Bossier City, LA, Gary Z. Lyons of McKinney, TX and Timothy N. (Debbie) Lyons of Houston, TX., three daughter, Nancy C.(Roger) Hollingsworth of Corpus Christi, TX, Pamela G ( Barry). Borders of Birmingham, AL and Thuy T. (David) Harvell of Punta Gorda, FL., one brother Gene (Mae) Lyons of Dade City, FL., thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents William and Mattie Hagans Lyons, one brother Buck Lyons and two sisters Mary Margaret Ivey and Hazel Aguiar. Visitation will be Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:30AM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Collins officiating.
