Hubert D. Bowling, age 74, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at his home in Arcadia. He was born August 6, 1937 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, moving to Arcadia in 1954. Hubert was retired from the DeSoto County road Department. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U. S. Army, serving with the Arcadia National Guard, Battery A 3 rd H.B. 116 Artillery from 1957 until 1966. Hubert loved a clean yard. He could be seen mowing and manicuring his yard most anytime. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending quality time with his family. Hubert was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church. Arcadia, FL. Survivors are his son Charles (Terri) Bowling, Moore Haven, FL, two brothers, Lonnie (Letha) Bowling, Lakeland, FL and Rick Bowling, Port Charlotte, FL, three sisters, Mearilyn King, Cairo, GA, Dot (Charlie) Welch, Arcadia, FL, and Debo Osborne, No. Ft. Meyers, FL, one grand daughter, Desiree J. Bowling, Moore haven, FL Hubert is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Jessie Stone Bowling, and four brothers, Joe Bowling, Edward Bowling, Lebron Bowling, and Dale Bowling. Visitation will be from 2:00PM until 3:00PM, Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Arcadia First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3:00PM at the church with Rev. Richard Englert officiating. DeSoto County Honor Guard will render military honors at the church.
