Henry Morgan Wood, age 94, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Arcadia. He was born February 23, 1916 in Fitzgerald, GA and moved to Arcadia in 1939 from Plant City, FL. He was of the Protestant faith and active member of the Church of God, Arcadia. Henry was a past Desoto County Commissioner, he was well known as the owner of Woods Supermarket in Nocatee. Henry was a farmer and raised cattle most of his life. Henry served our Country in the US Navy. He is survived by one sister; Evelyn Swain of Cordele, GA. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Brown Wood, parents, Joseph E.and Callie E. Livingston Wood and several brothers and sisters. A visitation will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 2:00PM at Arcadia Church of God, 1423 NE Oak St., Arcadia with Rev. Steve Griffin officiating.
