Helen Joyce Harmon, age 94, passed away May 22, 2011 in Arcadia, FL. Joyce was born December 9, 1916 in Canton, Oh. She moved to Arcadia, Fl in 1972 from No. Miami, FL. Joyce worked as the Veterans Service Officer for DeSoto County, FL for several years. She also worked at Burdines and Jordan Marsh Department Stores, in No. Miami, FL. She was manager of the china and silver departments. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars (OES), where she served as secretary and Past Matron, Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) Muskegon Co., OH, a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the D.A.V. Auxiliary, Arcadia, FL, Arcadia Woman s Club, and the Ladies of the Shrine. Survivors are two sons; Fred Helser, Arcadia, FL and William (Judy) Widrig, Johnstown, PA., daughter; Susan (Joe) Smedley, Arcadia, FL and a step daughter; Maxine Crawmer, Frazeysburg, OH. Joyce is preceded in death by her beloved husband Willis Bud Harmon on March 15, 1995. A Memorial service to Celebrate the Life of Joyce Harmon will be at 10:00AM, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church of Arcadia with Dr. Ted Land officiating.
