Loving Father and Husband, Harry Miller of Arcadia, Florida passed into our Father s hands on September 7th 2010 after a difficult year with cancer. Harry was born in Duquesne, PA on February 6, 1926 and attended East McKeesport High School, where in his senior year, he enlisted in the Army. He served in the 3rd Armored Division Tank Corp under General Hodges, survived the Battle of the Bulge. While serving his country, he received numerous awards and meritorious citations along with the completion of his education. Upon discharge from the military, he attended University of Pittsburgh Academy, and then went to work for Bell of Pennsylvania. In 1960 he transferred to Miami with Southern Bell, where he retired as a Field Forman with 35 years service. He began spending weekends in Arcadia in 1970 and moved, with his wife Betty of 58 years from Miami to Arcadia in 1985. Harry loved to travel, visit different places and was an avid horticulturist, known around town for sharing his fabulous orchids, flower arrangements and ornamental citrus trees. He has been a member and usher at Calvary Baptist church for 25 years, an officer at the VFW Post 2834 and a long time Telephone Company Pioneer member. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Betty K. Miller of Arcadia, FL., one son; Dennis E. (Rosemarie) Miller of Roswell, GA, one daughter; Suzanne E. Miller of Orlando, FL and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; Harry E. and Catherine Wyant Miller and sister Ruth Kisiel. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, September 10, 2010 from 1:00PM until 3:00PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 1509 E. Oak St., Arcadia. Funeral services will follow the visitation on Friday at 3:00PM at the church will Rev. Scott Wilcoxson and Rev. Jerry Waters officiating.
