Obituary

Harry "Bob" Evers, lifelong resident of Arcadia, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 14, 2022.

Harry was born February 13, 1941 and was 81 years old. After a brief illness, in his home surrounded by the love of his family, he peacefully earned his wings.

Harry devoted much of his life, serving his Country in the U.S. Army. A 25 year veteran, he earned many awards, honors and medals.  He did two tours to Vietnam, was Military Police and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant.  His career did not end there; he went on to work at G. Pierce Wood and later for the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office.

Harry remained active in his community and had many interests. He was an active Mason, being the former Grand Master and Master of Masonic Lodge #66 Peace River.  He was a member of the Scottish Rite, the York Rite, Shriners and DeSoto Amateur Radio Club.

From an early age Harry enjoyed sports and working with his hands.  He carried that love into adulthood as he served as coach while his young son played little league football. Through the years he perfected his craft in wood working creating many beautiful pieces that his family enjoy today.  Harry enjoyed fishing, grilling, travel, working in his yard, and decorating his house for the Christmas Holiday.

If you knew Harry, you knew him by his quick wit. He could keep you entertained for hours with witty conversation. He loved his wife and always tried to put her needs before his own, always being a great provider. He greatly loved his children and bestowed upon them his work ethic, and integral character. All that met him and came to know him considered him a part of their family as he was so welcoming to invite them to be a part of his.

Harry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary E. Redd Evers of Arcadia, Florida, his son, Harry Bartley Evers Jr. of  Bradenton  Florida, and his daughters Janet Evers Riedel of Marianna, Florida and Janice Evers Mares of Arcadia, Florida. His Stepson James Marcus Hall, Port St Lucie, Florida, one brother Alan (Anita) Evers of Arcadia, Florida and one sister, Linda(Brian) Derry also of Arcadia.

Harry's legacy will live on as he was blessed with 13 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren. He loved them all dearly.
