Peggy Gillette, age 88, passed away following a long illness on April 5, 2013. She was born on March 4, 1925 in Wauchula, she was a lifetime resident and of the Baptist faith. She was a kind and deeply devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Whom we affectionately called Meme , she will be sadly missed. Peggy s hobbies included square dancing,card games,cooking for family gatherings, quilting and fishing in her earlier years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ward, an infant son Ward Daniel, parents Simon and Mollie Griffin and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include son and daughter, George Gillette and Diane of St Petersburg, Kay Huddleston and Chuck of Wauchula. Grandchildren, Scott and Tiffany Nicholson, Lisa and Wayne Newman, Clay and Tina Nicholson all of Wauchula, William and Christian Gillette, Kristi and Jonathan Gillette of Pensacola and Stephanie Gillette of California, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 404 W. Palmetto St., Wauchula. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00AM at the chapel with Pastor Jim Harris and Brother Charley Flesher officiating. Burial will be held privately at Wauchula City Cemetery.
