Earlene Howell Colburn age 80 of Zolfo Spring passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at her home. She was born January, 9. 1933 in Nauvoo, AL and moved to Hardee County in 1954. Earlene was of the Pentecostal faith; she enjoyed arts & crafts, knitting, fishing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two loving husbands, Doss Howell and Ray Colburn; two sisters Velma Jean Ayers, , and Pearlene Barton; one brother Hershell Edwards; and two sons Dennis Howell and Dwayne Howell.one granddaughter Sondra Barrington and one great grandson Craig Donavan Hester. Earlene is survived by one son David Howell and wife Eunice; six daughters Naomi Herrin, Gearldean Shrum and husband Paul, Shirley Barrington, Brenda Howell, Debbie Litton and husband Gene and Ocie Ann Edwards; two sisters Jeanette Plunkett, and Marlyn Staton; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 6pm-8pm Friday, August 2, 2013 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home 404 West Palmetto Street in Wauchula. Services will be 2:00pm Saturday, August 3, 2013 in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Wauchula Cemetery.
