Jack Dewayne Smith age 77 of Bowling Green passed away March 17, 2013 at his home. He was born June 7, 1935 in Warsaw, IN. and moved to Hardee County 30 years ago from Bradenton. Jack was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Zolfo Springs and loved his Church and the fellowship with in it. He loved to fish and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jack served our country honorably as an Aircraft Mechanic in the US Air Force retiring as a Master Sargent. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Alma Smith, one brother Glen Smith and two sisters Edith Strey and Doris Kiser. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Glenda Lanier Smith of Bowling Green, two daughters Karen Pharaoh and husband Jeff of Kennewich, WA, Annette Wirtheim and husband Chris of Tampa; one step-daughter Amy Waters and husband Travis of Wauchula; two sisters Joann Yieter of TN, Jeannette Norman and husband Ron of Warsaw, IN; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Memorial Service is planned for 10:00am Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Maranatha Baptist Church in Zolfo Springs with Pastor Joshua Goodwin officiating. Inurnment will be in Sarasota National Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Pharaoh officiating, DeSoto County Veterans Honor Guard will be rendering Military Honors.
