George Daniel
Larson
January 15, 1944 – January 9, 2022
George Daniel Larson passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022, in his home surrounded by his wife, Martha. He was born January 15, 1944 in Rockford, Illinois and lived in Arcadia for approximately 65 years.
He graduated from DeSoto County High School in 1962 and from Manatee Junior College in 1964 with a degree in electronics. He worked many years in the agricultural field as a Poultry Service Manager and retired from Bethel Farms, a company to which he was totally dedicated.
George served six years in the Army National Guard, was a member of North Hillsborough Baptist Church and a member of the DeSoto County Fair Association and spent many hours volunteering for both his church and the fair organization.
He enjoyed camping, reading, raising cattle, family, friends and most of all his only grandchild, Lucie, "whom was the twinkle in her Papa's eyes." George will be long remembered as a hardworking man who was loyal, quiet, honest and a great family man. His greatest accomplishments were only having two jobs after graduating from college and raising his only child, John, whom he was so proud of.
George is survived by his loving wife of 52 plus years, Martha Kersey Larson, son John (Heather) Larson of Apopka, Florida, granddaughter Lucie Larson of Apopka, Florida and sister Edith (Russell) Willis of Lake Placid, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his father, Chris Larson, his mother, Esther Bontoff Larson and mother-in-law, Florence Kersey, whom he loved dearly.
Memorial Service will be Sunday, January 30, 2022, 2 p.m., at Horse Creek Camp Venue, 8491 State Road 64, Ona, Florida. Online condolences may be made at pongerkaysgrady.com.
