George Dickey born September 7, 1953

We lost a great one this week. George Dickey Sr., born and raised right here in Hardee County, passed peacefully in his sleep on the morning of August 29th.

Big George was known to many and loved by all who knew him. He was a sweet soul who never met a stranger. George was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and loved every minute he spent there with his wife of 47 and a half years, Carol.

Papa leaves behind his amazing wife, Carol Dickey, 63, daughters Tina Dickey, 51, of Tampa, Karen Dickey, 50, of Victoria , VA, Barbara Ann Dickey, 47, of Belle Plaine, KS, son, George Dickey Jr., 44, of Avon Park, sister and lone surviving sibling, Carolyn Dickey, 79, of Wauchula. George also leaves behind 14 grandkids and 6 great grandkids.

Services will be held on George's birthday, Saturday, September 7th, at 10:30 am at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Ft. Meade, with lunch to follow. Friends and family are invited to attend.
