George E. Davis, 84, of Arcadia , Fl. passed away April 9, 2009 in Arcadia . He was born March 1, 1925 in Dothan , AL. and moved to Arcadia in 1981 from Miami , Fl. George served with the U. S. Navy during WWII. Upon discharge, he reenlisted with the U. S. Coast Guard after serving his country faithfully for 20 years. He also worked at the city of Miami Dept. of Corrections. George enjoyed camping and tinkering with things to make them work. George was married in 1942 to his beloved wife Louise, who preceded him in death in 2001. He is survived by daughters Wendy Wentlandt, Port Charlotte , Fl. and Vivian Lynn (Michael) Brink, Sebastian, Fl. and two grandchildren, Erick Wentlandt and Heather Brink. He will also be missed by his friend and companion Argene Hunter of Arcadia and his dog Lil Bit. Visitation will be held, at 10:00AM, Monday, April 13, 2009 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 No. Hillsborough Ave. , Arcadia , Fl. with funeral services to follow at 11:00AM at the funeral home chapel. DeSoto Co. Honor Guard will render military honors at the funeral home following the service.
