Obituary

George Wendell Cain, age 90, passed away on November 29, 2022 in Arcadia, FL. He was born on November 1, 1932 in Cottonwood, AL to the late James M. and Becie I. Howell Cain. George moved to Southwest Florida 57 years ago, settling in Arcadia where he remained.

George graduated from Auburndale High School. After high school he joined the United States Navy, serving our Great Nation. He was of the Methodist Faith and lived a good life with the love of God, his family and Country in his heart.

George Cain was a man's man, there wasn't anything he couldn't do! He was a general contractor working all over the State of Florida. He was a great hunter and fisherman and taught all the younger generations to hunt, fish and shoot bows. How to dress the kill, whether it was a deer, hog or fish. He taught us how to cook, not just in the kitchen but on a campfire during hunting season. He taught us how to ride dirt bikes in the woods, drive trucks and build hunting buggies. We learned how to live off the land and reload our own ammunition. He taught 3 generations how to can our own food. We are all so grateful for everything he taught us.

He was such a generous man, would give you the shirt off his back, but he was most generous of his time. Time to teach, and to help others and expected nothing in return. He was a legend to everyone who knew him.

He is survived by two daughters Cathleen Cain Channel of Arcadia, FL. and JoAnn Cain Loughren Chaich (Nick) of Malvern, AR, son in law Tom McGill, sister Beverly Cain Huggins (Rod) of Valparaiso, FL; four grandchildren Tim Channel (Shelly), Gary Loughren (Marty), Larry Channel (Jennifer) and Amy Channel (Cody); seven great-grandchildren Garrett Loughren, Brandon Loughren, Kegan Channel, Jackson Forbes, Taylor Wynn, Chandler Wynn and Cash Erikson, numerous nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his wife Donna Mulcahy Cain, parents James M. and Becie I. Cain, daughter Therese Cain McGill, brothers Dorman Cain, Marlon Cain, sister Sandra Cain Jackson and son in law Glen Loughren
