Obituary

Gary Gail Stover passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 20, 1943 to Amy and Smokey Stover.

He was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force.  He spent most of his life in Charlotte and DeSoto counties.

Gary will be remembered by those who knew him as a kind, loving and generous man. He acquired hundreds of friends over the year. During his life he was very involved in the Charlotte High School wrestling and football programs. He served 20 years on the Charlotte Tarpon Football chain gang. He was also very active as a youth football coach in the Charlotte Youth Football League.

In his younger days Gary enjoyed Rodeoing and was involved in Calf Roping. He was also the past owner of a prosperous Golf Course Construction Company. He was involved in the industry for over 40 years, where he worked until his death. Several of his family members have also followed in his footsteps and own prosperous Golf Course companies. Gary loved his work and leaves a lasting mark on the industry.

But, Gary's first love was his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His legacy will live on through the stories and memories passed on by those who knew him and loved him.

Gary attended church at Nocatee Baptist church of Arcadia where he served as a door greeter. His church family held a special place in his heart.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Amy and Smokey Stover and one brother Larry Dale Stover.

Gary is survived by his partner of 20 years Nancy Pritchett. He is also survived by 5 children and 4 stepchildren. Tammy (Gary) Adams of Ft. Myers, FL, Michael Stover of North Carolina, Tara (Mike) Russel of Pt. Charlotte, FL,  Tonya (Jackie) of Pt. Charlotte, FL and Brandon (Mary) Stover of Naples, FL. Also, Travis Pritchett of Arcadia, FL, Kimberly (Chris) Wilfert of Orlando, FL, Casey (Kerry) Pritchett of Pt. Charlotte, FL, and Beth Ann (Timmy) Shirley of Ormond Beach, FL.

Gary is also survived by his 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Church services will be held at the Nocatee Baptist Church on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00pm.  A celebration of Gary's life will be held at a later date to be announced.
