Frank E. Pat Carter, age 73, passed away March 14, 2011 in Port Charlotte, FL. Pat was born December 6, 1937, moving to Arcadia, FL in 1967. Pat was the Parks and Recreation Director for the city of Tulsa, OK for seven years, prior to moving to Arcadia. Pat was the head coach for the DeSoto County High School varsity baseball and Assistant Coach for the Varsity football team. He taught physical education at West Elementary when he first came to Arcadia. He applied for the coaching position at DeSoto High School in 1974 and remained the coach for both the varsity baseball and varsity football teams until 1993. He left coaching and remained the Drivers Education Teacher for the school until his retirement in 2006. Pat devoted more than forty years of his life to the children of DeSoto County. He was of the protestant faith. Survivors are his beloved wife, Lynn Griffin Carter, Arcadia, FL, a son David, and his fianc Jenny, Charlotte, NC, two daughters; Mary Lynn and Kimberly, a brother; Harry Lee (Sandy) Carter, San Diego, CA, and several grandchildren. Pat leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing.
