Frank Dawson Hall, 80 passed away on April 5, 2008, at his ranch in Arcadia, Florida, after an extended illness. Born on October 14, 1927, in Ft. Lauderdale, he received his BA from Duke University and his LLB from the University of Florida. After serving in the Korean War with the Army JAG, he practiced law with his father and two brothers in Miami until he accepted the position of In House Vice President and General Council for the Howard Johnson Company in New York City, where he developed his skill in franchise law. After five years, he returned to Florida and began practicing with Hall and Swann. Frank also thrived on nurturing new businesses and was instrumental in the beginnings of Sonny s Real Pit Bar-B-Q, Everglades Seasoning and AquaChem, until he semi retired to his Prairie Creek Ranch in 1995. In June of 2001 he received recognition for 50 years membership with The Florida Bar. During his long career he was a very active with the American Bar Association General Practice Section, and was recognized with Project of the Year Award for outstanding service to the ABA General Practice Section. He also received the Tradition of Excellence Award from The Florida Bar for his work with the General Practice Solo and Small Firm Section. Frank loved the practice of law and his accomplishments, and his daughter, Laurie, was fortunate to follow him into the practice of law. This mutual love of the law culminated in Laurie s oral argument before the Florida Supreme Court, with Frank in the audience, forty years after his own oral argument before The Court. Frank also served as the Honorary Counsel General of Thailand for Florida, from 1978-2000, during which time the King of Thailand honored Frank with many awards for distinguished service. After retiring Frank enjoyed fishing and hunting at the ranch, as well as spending time with his wife Becky at their home in Clayton, Georgia. Frank was a avid University of Florida Gator Fan. Frank is survived by his wife Rebecca Gessaman Hall, daughter Laurie Dawson Hall (Ron), his brothers, M. Lewis Hall, Jr. (Muriel), The Honorable Vincent T. Hall (Shirley) and Lewshane Hall, Shawney Norris, as well as Kim Volkheimer and Dale Gessaman, Jr. of Dayton Ohio, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as exceptional friends, Brenda Davis, David Arguijo (Mary), Sue Knight, and all the members of The Prairie Creek Hunt Club (and associated poachers), as well as a special thank you to Vickie Southgate, of Home Health Division of DeSoto Memorial Hospital.
