Flora LaVerne Mott passed to her home in heaven on March 8, 2024, at the age of 93 in Arcadia, Florida. LaVerne was born on April 18, 1930, to Arthur and Pearl Witte (nee Owens), in Bowling Green, Florida. She graduated from Hardee County High School in 1947. She married Allen Mott on October 19, 1952, and moved to DeSoto County in 1956, establishing a lifelong home in Nocatee, Florida.
LaVerne loved Jesus and her family. She enjoyed attending and serving her church, First Baptist of Nocatee, as well as visiting those in need, fishing, shrimping, gardening, and going out with family. LaVerne's family was of upmost importance to her, and she left a legacy of loving others to her five generations of family and to her friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allen, and her brothers Wendell Witte, Sheldon Witte, and Howard Witte. She is survived by her sons, Royce (Asena) Mott from Fort Ogden, Florida, Bruce (Paula) Mott from Arcadia, Florida, and daughter Beverly (John) Lyter from Lake Placid, Florida. LaVerne was blessed with seven grandchildren: Bridgette (Joedy) Rios (their children: Briana, Skyler, Aaliyah, and Joedy, Jr.), Amanda (Michael) Bevis (their children: Kayla, Bailey, DJ, Keelan, Brasen, and Nevaeh), Shasta Mott (children: Destiny, Wana, Fritzson, Christopher, and Christabel), Tony Mott, Andria Lyter (children: Aliana and Jaycen), Erin (Justin) Nelson (their son: Ryker), and Daden (Meagan) Mott (their daughter: Annabelle). LaVerne's family continues to grow with eight great-great-grandchildren and more on the way.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Nocatee Baptist Church. The visitation is at 10:00 am with services starting at 11:00 am. Interment at Joshua Creek Cemetery.
The family is appreciative of Hospice services and encourages donations there in lieu of flowers.
