Eugene W. Brannan, Jr., passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Arcadia, FL. Eugene was born Oct. 1, 1927 in Arcadia, Fl and was a lifelong resident. He was retired from G. Pearce Wood Memorial Hospital, where he served as a charge Aid and Relief Supervisor. Eugene was an honorable discharged veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Navy He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and his grand and great grandchildren. Eugene loved to listen to country music, especially when the songs were preformed by his son Murray. He was a lifetime member of the Am Vets, Post 60, Arcadia, FL. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors are his beloved wife, Billie Ann Brannan, Arcadia, a son , James Murray (Leslie) Brannan, Arcadia, two daughters; Eugenia Ann (Hayward) mercer, Ocala, FL and Gwen Brannan, Arcadia, fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, four brothers, Oliver (Helen) Brannan, Arcadia, James E. Jimmie (Sue) Brannan , Sebring, FL, Wilbur (Sandra)Brannan, Plant City, FL, and Freddie (Cathy) Brannan, N. Carolina. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene W. Brannan, SR. and Olive Mae Wright Brannan, a son Eugene Buddy Brannan III, and a sister Alta Brannan Smithwick. Visitation will be conducted Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 3:00PM until 6:00PM at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Hom4 chapel, 50 No. Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia, FL. Funeral services and burial will at 10:00AM, Monday, July 18, 2011 at the graveside at Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia, FL with Rev. Bill Smithwick officiating. The Desoto Honor Guard and the Vietnam Brotherhood will render military honors.
