Esther Lyons Douglas, 90, of Punta Gorda, FL surrounded by her loving family, departed on November 28, 2023. A native of Hillsborough County, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Martha Jordan Lyons.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband Richard J Douglas, Sr, Sister Alice Boyette (James), Sister Lillie Leyden (Paul) Brother Eugene Lyons and infant daughter Donna Marie Matthews.

During her lifetime, Esther thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, day working on ranches with her husband Jack, tending to her yard and flower beds, and sneaking in time at a nearby fishing hole. She also enjoyed dancing alongside her husband Jack at the local honkytonk and spending time with family making new memories while sharing memories of days past. Her grandchildren will fondly remember the wooden paddle as it was a household staple.

Esther's loving survivors include her children Edward R. Martin (Sharon), Ronald E. Martin (Ginny), Martha J. Pangle (Donald), Judy M. Clayton, and Donna M. Swallow (James), 15 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Wauchula from 10:00Am-11:00AM.

The service will follow from 11:00AM-12:00PM in the Chapel and the Burial will follow the service at New Zion.
