Erma Lou Colson Carlton passed away at the age of 73 on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida. She was born on October 18, 1950, in Hardee County, Florida to Hoyle and Juanita Colson. She lived in the community her entire life.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wauchula and served as Co-Chapter Director of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association/Eagle Wings Motorcycle Association for 25 years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, spending time with her family and friends, and making keepsakes for others.
Erma is survived by her husband of 53 years, Winston Carlton of Wauchula, 2 daughters Leslie Buchanon (Danny) and Cambron Carlton, both of Lakeland, Florida, 4 grandchildren Bailey Buchanon of Chiefland, Florida, Blair Buchanon of Lakeland, Grant Vanderbilt of Lakeland, and Mabry Vanderbilt of Lakeland. She is also survived by her siblings Margaret Bennett (Dewey) of Wauchula, Buddy Colson of Wauchula, and Mary Lee Charlton of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyle and Juanita Colson, and her sister Cherry "Tiny" Ford.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the First Baptist Church of Wauchula, 1570 W. Main Street, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Davis officiating. A burial will follow at the Wauchula City Cemetery in Wauchula, Florida.
