Ella Jean Johnston Paugh, age 91, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023. She was born on October 24, 1931, to Joel and Mary Batts.

She had lived in this area for 70 years, was a farm worker and a Jehovah's Witness.

She will be remembered as a hard worker, dedicated and loved very much by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Johnston of 44 years and son James Johnston Jr.

She is survived by her husband James E. Paugh Sr. daughter, Jo Ann Johnston Kajawa, Port St. Lucie, Florida. Sister, Joyce Fennell, Judy Morse and Brother, Jerry Batts and 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 12:00Pm until 1:00Pm at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 205 N. 9th Avenue Wauchula.

Funeral services will follow at 1:00PM at Ponger-Kays-Grady with John Proud officiating. A burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
