Eleanor S. Bates departed this world on February 21, 2026, at Tidewell Hospice in Arcadia, Florida.

Eleanor was born in New York City, NY on September 29, 1943, to Harold and Elizabeth (Barrett) Spence. She married George L. Bates in February of 1966. They raised 2 sons, Harold and Scott Bates.

Eleanor is survived by her sister Virginia and Tom LeRoy of Naples, Florida; her sons, Harold, and his wife Christine Bates of New Ipswich, New Hampshire; Scott and his wife Amy of Arcadia, Florida; four granddaughters and one great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harold & Elizabeth Spence, husband George Bates and brother Doug Spence.
