Eduwigis Angeles Fortanel

Eduwigis Angeles Fortanel, 67, of Arcadia, Florida passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. Born on October 16, 1958, in La Colgada, Mexico to Selesia Angeles. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and was happiest when she was surrounded by the people and things she loved. She enjoyed taking long walks, tending to her flowers and garden, spending time outdoors, and being around animals. She had a special love for butterflies and enjoyed watching them flutter among her flowers. Music and dancing brought a special happiness to her life, and she was always ready to enjoy a good song and dance. She was a hardworking woman who never liked to sit still. She was always busy doing something, whether working in her garden, caring for her flowers, watching butterflies, helping her family, or simply finding something to keep her hands occupied. Her energetic, lively personality and “busy body” nature was part of what made her so special. She lived life with a joyful spirit, a love for the outdoors, and a heart full of love for her family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Above all, she cherished her family. She adored her grandchildren and loved her daughters and sons-in-law—sometimes jokingly saying she loved them even more than her own children! Her family was truly the center of her world.

She survived by her children: Leobardo Fortanel (Amalia Vargas), Juana Neri (Juan), Florentina Flores- Fortanel (Celestino Flores Camacho), Manuel Fortanel, Maria Fortanel Olivo (Pablo Olivo) and Calletano Fortanel (Andrea Alvarez). Grandchildren: Oscar Fortanel, Daniela Fortanel, Alexa Fortanel, Abril Fortanel, Aryleo Fortanel, Abelardo Fortanel, Jacqueline Flores-Fortanel, Jaylan Flores-Fortanel, Giulianna Flores-Fortanel, Nansy Neri, Nayeli Neri, Nataly Neri, Elizandro Fortanel, Elias Fortanel, Lucero Fortanel, Rebecca Fortanel, Pablo Olivo III, Oliver Olivo, and y los que faltan.

A visitation will be held at Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held Friday September 25, 2026 at 2:00PM at the St. Paul's Catholic Church with the interment to immediately follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
