Earl Colen Holland, Sr. age 91 of Bowling Green, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 in Winter Haven. He was born July 10, 1920 in Wauchula and was a life long resident of Hardee County. Earl worked as a mechanic at the mines until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, maintaining his groves, and spending time with his family, especially when he was fishing. Earl served his country honorably in the Army Air Corps. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Kight Holland of Bowling Green; one daughter Florence (Jay) Gobble of Bowling Green; one son Colen (Cynthia) Holland, Jr. of Gainesville, FL; one step daughter Janet (Jimmy) Scarborough of Wauchula; one brother Herman (Lavonia) Holland of Mulberry; four grandchildren Merit Crane, Cliff Gobble, Julie Benjamin, Michele Rabon; and ten great-grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by one daughter Leanora Acevedo, a beloved wife Mildred Albritton, one brother Arlis Holland, and his parents Ernest and Gladys Holland. The visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home 404 W Palmetto St in Wauchula. Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Paynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church 4404 Payne Creek Rd in Bowling Green, with Pastor Hollis Albritton officiating.
