Dorothy Shivers, 90 of Zolfo Springs went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

Dorothy was born on May 16, 1932 in Plant City, Florida to Clarence and Eva Simmons Hunter.

Dorothy worked at Zolfo Springs Elementary for over 30 years in the cafeteria. Retiring in 1997.

She was a longtime member of Wauchula Church of the Nazarene and was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Zolfo Springs.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years James Shivers. Both her parents Clarence and Eva Hunter and stepfather Jess Bryant. Brothers Ray and Alvin Hunter, daughter Ruth Ellen Shivers, and son in law Johnny Ussery.

Dorothy is survived by her son John (Sandy) Shivers of Zolfo Springs, and daughter Faye Ussery of Windermere, Florida. Grandchildren Marisa and Meagan Shivers, Crystal, Alisha and Cory (Courtney) Ussery and one great granddaughter Haley Ussery. Sister Zelma (James) Cercy of Avon Park.

Visitation will be on Saturday December 10, 2022 from 10:30am – 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Zolfo Springs, Services following at 11:00am with Reverend Steve Griffin officiating. The burial will be at Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Zolfo Springs.
