Doris Geraldine Freeman passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026. She was born September 2, 1941, in Arcadia, Florida to Dink Albritton and Josephine Cochran. She had lived in the community for over 50 years. She graduated from High School in 2003.

She was a Housekeeper and Caretaker and worked for many families in the area. She was a God-fearing woman and was the core of the family that kept everyone together. She gave us a reason to gather, a place to belong and a love that bridged all our differences.

Doris loved to tend to her garden and spend beloved time with her grandkids. She loved to teach something new to her beloved family. Also, she loved sitting in the Walmart parking lot and watching people go in and out.

She will be lovingly remembered as Granny, a loving wife and mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dink and Josephine Albritton, her brothers; Collier Cochran, George Cochran, and Henry Cochran, also daughter Donna Jean Granadero.

She survived by her loving husband, Jose Socorro Hernandez, there are also 15 grandchildren 41 great grandchildren and 4 nieces and nephews. Grandchildren include Donna “Mija” Alamla, Apolonia Martinez, Magdelana Martinez, and Cassandra Delatorre and Francisco “Pancho” Granadero. Great grandchildren include, Yamilet Samyra Galvez, Jose and Jorge Rodriguez, Janellie Rodriguez, David Granadero and Twila Granadero.

The Visitation will be Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 10;00am – 11:00am in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady, 205 N. 9th Avenue, Wauchula, Fl 33873. The Service will follow at 11:00AM with Reverend Wendell Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 143 Sidney Roberts Road, Ona, FL 33865.
