Donald Rufus Langford, age 77, passed away March 16, 2025. He was born in Arcadia, Florida on September 18, 1947, and resided there until he graduated from Desoto High School in 1966. In 1971 he graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Electrical Engineering, propelling him into a career in the oil industry where he designed braking systems for oil rigs throughout the world.
Upon his return to Arcadia in 2006, Donald became an active member of the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church, where he served in various capacities.
Donald's many hobbies included fishing, boating, hunting, working on antique and classic cars, and designing and building anything electrical or mechanical. He also enjoyed his role as grill-master when entertaining friends and family. He will be remembered as loyal, quick-witted, moral, and hard-working as well as a devoted and loving father and husband.
He is survived by his wife Linda, and former wife, Markee Rudy, with whom he raised his three children: Jennifer Anderson (Eric) of Humble, Texas; Carrie Dresser (Daniel) of Bethesda, Maryland; and Bryan Langford of Houston, Texas. His surviving siblings are James Langford, Priscilla Langford and Faye Boucher (Bernard). His eleven grandchildren include Nathaniel, Jacob, Henry, Thomas, Nicholas, Natalie, Bryanna, James, Kenny, Bradley, and Michael. He was also a proud great-grandfather of three, as well as uncle to 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Lily and Stanley Langford, sister Sandra Nipper, brother Edwin Langford, and grandson Aiden Kennedy.
Visitation will be Friday March 28, 2025 at Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church from 10-11am, the Service will follow with Paster Dana Spurgeron officiating. The burial will be at Owens Cemetery at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Ephraim Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
