Donald W. Hovey 79 was born on February 7, 1944, in Orlando, Florida to Julian & Ida Hovey and passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on February 7, 2023.

Don was a 1966 graduate of Florida Southern College. He served honorably in the Florida National Guard and lived in Desoto County over 60 years and was a member of the Arcadia Lions Club.

He was very involved in the Citrus Community here and was a Citrus buyer by profession. Don served on the South West Florida Water Management District board.

He loved animals, watching football and Nascar.

He is survived by his significant other Bonnie Powell, his brother Randolph Hovey, sisters Faye Sanders and Carolyn Werst, and many Nieces and Nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Julian and Ida Hovey and his wife Susie Yokeley Hovey. Because of his love for all animals, in lieu of flowers a contribution is requested to the Canine Castaways in Arcadia.

There will be a graveside service at Joshua Creek Cemetery on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 1:00P.M. Pastor Ellis Cross will be officiating.
