Obituary

Donald Thaddeus Davis, Age-86 of Zolfo Springs, FL, passed away on Saturday, February 11th 2023 at HCA Doctors Hospital in Sarasota, FL. Don was born on August 10th 1936 in Arcadia, Florida. He was a lifelong resident of both DeSoto & Hardee counties. He was a 1954 graduate of DeSoto High School and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Forestry. He is the founder of D.T. Davis Ranch and was married to Darlene Davis for 52 years.

Don was a member of Avon Park First Presbyterian Church and attended First Baptist Church of Fort Ogden on occasion. Don was an avid outdoors man and pilot, He enjoyed air boating, deer, gator and bird hunting, fishing & most of all breeding and showing Brahman cattle. Don was also a very accomplished bowler and often gave lessons to young and old bowling enthusiast. Don also loved Florida Gators Football. Don will be remembered by his family and friends as a kindhearted southern gentleman. For the past ten years, Don's loving companion has been Ms. Peggy Russell. A high school classmate. They had much in common. This chapter was filled with lots of joy. Attending the gator games, going to eat at their favorite restaurants, sitting on Don's front porch feeding the wildlife and riding through the cattle feeding them pellets, they always had lots to talk about. Simply put they loved spending time together.

He is survived by a son, George (Sunni) Davis of Kenansville, FL and daughter Betsy (Mike) Damboise of Zolfo Springs, FL. Five grandchildren, Loni (Jake) Goddard of Arcadia, FL; Kade Damboise of Atlanta, GA; Noah (Robyn) Reed of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; Sam and Sarah Davis of Kenansville, FL. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Darlene Davis.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N.
Hillsborough Ave. Arcadia, FL. Pastor Bob Johnson, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota, FL.
