Una Avant Terry, age 87, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 16, 2013 in Gainesville, GA. She was born September 5, 1925 in Arcadia, FL. where she lived until she met and married her husband of 63 years, William Wayne Terry, Jr. After their marriage they moved to Oneco where they lived until 1970. The couple moved their family back to Arcadia where they remained. Una was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church, Arcadia. Una was a hair dresser for over 63 years, owning her own beauty shops in both Oneco and Arcadia, later on she dressed hair at the local nursing homes until she retired at age 82. She was a member of the Women s Business and Professional Assn., enjoyed reading and bowling with her friends. Her biggest enjoyment was her family; she loved to spend time with them at their mountain house in North Carolina. She is survived by one son William W. (Margie) Terry III of Clarksville, Ga., three daughters Mary F. Filonuk of North Port, FL., Marsha (Butch) Drawdy of Arcadia, FL. and Cindy T. Keen of LaBelle, FL., one brother Bob Avant of Arcadia, FL. and one sister Irma Hall of Fort Myers, FL., twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Una was preceded in death by her husband William W. Terry, Jr., parents Henry C. and Ethel B. (Jones) Avant, brother Henry P. Avant and sister Doris Schard. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, FL. Funeral Services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00PM at the chapel with her son, Rev. Bill Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Joshua Creek Cemetery.
