Obituary

Alan Roger Jones, 69, of Arcadia, Florida peacefully passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 surrounded and comforted by his family at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, Florida. Alan was born in Bournemouth, England, May 31, 1944. On May 24, 1952, days before his 9th birthday, he arrived with his parents, Cecil and Gladys, and his sister, Jennifer in New York City on The M.V. Georgic. They settled in Canada where his brother Paul, was born in 1959. Alan served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He moved to Pompano Beach Florida in 1965, where he met his wife, Carol Ann Baxter. Alan and Carol were married June 8th, 1967 and spent 46 loving years together. They were blessed with three beautiful children, Timothy (fianc e, Annette Webb) Jones, Robin Segroves (Christopher) Davidson, and Kimberly (Thomas) Jones-Beilstein. Alan loved and cherished each one of the their seven grandchildren; Brendon Alan Segroves, Amanda Ann (Nicholas) Selwyn, Megan Ann Jones, Nicole Ann Segroves, Timothy Alan Jones, Jr., Lilley Kathryn Jones, and Parker Alan Jones, and so happy to have added to his life, Jordon Webb, Matthew Webb, Adam Webb and Alexis Downing. He began his career with Orkin Exterminating Company in 1968 until 1985 when he started his own business, Jones Exterminating Company, in Arcadia Florida. Alan always said his customers were not just clients, but his friends. They knew when he arrived at their homes, because they would hear him whistle while he worked . Alan retired in December 2012. A private celebration of Alan s life will be attended by family. Alan will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will forever live within all of our hearts. In lieu of flowers, because of the kind and compassionate care extended to Alan and his family in his final days, donations can be made in his name to Tidewell Hospice- Pt.
