Mary R. (Daughtrey) Edwards, 83 of Fort Ogden, Florida, passed away peacefully September 14, 2013. She was born January 18, 1930 in Fort Ogden to Julius and Palma Daughtrey. Mary graduated from Desoto High School in 1948. She went on to raise three daughters and served as Postmistress at the El Jobean Post Office for 37 years until she retired in 2006. She truly loved and enjoyed all the cats and dogs that found their way into her life over the years and made sure to take care of the birds and squirrels in her yard. Mary was a very loving daughter, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed. Mary is survived by her three daughters; Mary L. Edwards of Port Charlotte, Florence J. Edwards of Port Charlotte, Edwina R. Edwards of Fort Ogden, one grandson, Jordan Chatham of Columbia, SC, three great-grandsons and many friends that she considered family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; Julius & Palma (Thomas) Daughtrey. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Fort Ogden from 10-11 am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Wayne Earnest officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Ogden Cemetery.
