Obituary

DeSoto- Nellie Mae Cash, 91, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2013 in Arcadia, Florida. Nellie was born in Eau Gallie, Florida on May 23, 1921. She spent the majority of her youth in South Florida and in the Florida Keys. She graduated from Homestead High School. She married Ormand "Shorty" Cash in 1940 and made her home in Homestead, Florida. Nellie was a homemaker, active in the First Baptist Church of Homestead, was a Sunday School teacher, WMU Director, Bible School leader, and always helpful to everyone that needed help. She was a helpmate to her husband in farming and fishing, a caring mother who always had time for her children and was respected and loved by all who knew her. She moved to Arcadia in 1983 and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Arcadia, teaching Sunday School and leading a Women's missionary group. Nellie loved to sew, cook, reading her Bible, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. Nellie is survived by her daughters; Diane Dupuis, of Arcadia, FL and Dorothy "Dottie" (Carl) Yost, of Arcadia, FL, nephew, John (Andrea) Martin, of Port Charlotte, FL, niece, Janice Martin, of Winter Springs, FL, grandchildren; Donald (Collette) Dupuis, Jr., David Dupuis, both of Arcadia, FL, Debbie (Kevin) Ordway, of Brandon, FL, Matthew (Leann) Yost, of Jacksonville, FL, and great grandchildren; Cassie, Tyler and Shayna Zajak, Kyle Ordway, Josh, Carson, and Harley Yost, Dewey, Rustin, Ramsey and Rylan Dupuis. She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Sarah Annie Martin, husband, Ormand "Shorty" Cash, brother, Elmer Martin, and son in law, Donald A. Dupuis. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 10-12 at Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home, followed by a 12 pm funeral service. She will be interred at Sarasota National Cemetery.
