Obituary

Michael P. Payne, age 36, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at home. He was born January 22, 1977 in Bartow, FL. and moved to Arcadia in 1978 with his family from Fort Meade, FL. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Arcadia. To know Mike was to love him, he fought a long hard battle with cancer. His biggest concern has always been for his children, family and friends. He is going to be sorely missed by all. Michael worked as a corrections officer at GEO; he was an active member of the B.P.O.E Elks Lodge # 1524 in Arcadia where he loved singing karaoke with everyone. Mike also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and was a huge FSU fan. Mike is survived by his wife Sara George Payne of Arcadia, FL., four children; sons Austin L. Payne of Bradenton, FL., and Logan M. Payne of Bethel Springs, TN, daughters Sidney Payne of Bradenton, FL. and Gracie Payne of Arcadia,FL., parents Lee E. (Oaurilee) Payne and Mary Ann (Joe Best) Bushy all of Arcadia, FL., two brothers Steven F.(Kim Roberts) Payne of Arcadia, FL and Joseph W. (Sky) Payne of Bradenton, FL., one sister Tammy Horner of Punta Gorda, FL., step brother John Curtis of VA, step sisters Jennifer Hall, Corla Cisneros, Sara Curtis and Gail Dungerow all of Arcadia, FL., and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation of family and friends will be held Friday, September 20, 2013 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, FL. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 7:00pm with Pastor Matt Clayton officiating. A Celebration of Michael s life will be held Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Arcadia Moose Lodge. Please come and bring a covered dish. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in care of Carl Gause at the Arcadia Moose Lodge, 1121 W.
