Serena Lynn Smith, age 43, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, FL. Serena was born September 19, 1969 in Hollywood, FL, moving to Arcadia five years ago from West Palm Beach, FL. Serena was a waitress and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, giving aid to the homeless, and taking in stray animals. She took great pleasure in attending to the needs of her family. Serena attended North Hillsborough Baptist Church, Arcadia, FL. Survivors are her two children, son Giovanni (Heather Dunn) Lazzarino, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, daughter; Cheyenne A. Smith, Arcadia, FL, parents Hector and Carolyn Gonzalez, Arcadia, FL, brother, Joshua A. Gonzalez, Arcadia, FL, two sisters; Jamie Danielle (Duane) Powell, Virginia Beach, VA, and Cherylin (Michael) Schneider, Margate, FL, grandmother; Mary Beth Hook, Stockport, Ohio, special family; Julia Jones and Aunt Rae Platt both of Ft. Ogden, FL, several nieces and nephews and one great nephew. Memorial services will be officiated by Rev. Ellis Cross and Hector Gonzalez at 1:30PM Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the North Hillsborough Baptist Church, 253 N Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia, FL.
