Lou Ann Brown, 81, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 in Arcadia, FL. She was born Dec. 20, 1930 in Ann Arbor, MI, moving to Arcadia, FL in 1974. She retired as owner of H & R Block DeSoto in 1992. She was co-organizer in 1974 of Desoto Co. Special Olympics and an active volunteer. Being an accomplished athlete, she played fast pitch softball at the National Championship level. She was a charter member of Sunnybreeze Palms Golf Club and the Florida State Senior Womens Golf Champion in 1988. Lou Ann is survived by her life partner Nancy Erickson, beloved dog Dazi and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Eleanor Howley and Jess Brown, brother Jess William and sister, Elizabeth. A celebration of her life will be held at Sunnybreeze Golf course on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 6 to 8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DeSoto Co. Special Olympics, 8369 SW Liverpool RD, Arcadia, FL 34269 Lou will be cremated with her ashes scattered by her friends.
