Linda Lou Holton, age 69, passed away Friday, April 5, in Arcadia, FL. Linda was born November 7, 1943 in Arcadia, FL. She was a retired educator from the DeSoto County School System, where she was a fourth grade teacher at West Elementary. Linda was dedicated to her profession. She had a love for all of her students and devoted her life to making sure that they were given the best education possible. Linda was a graduate of DeSoto High School and the University of South Florida. She enjoyed reading and was a dedicated Florida Gators fan. She was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church. Survivors are her mother; Inez Sullivan Holton, Arcadia, FL, brother-in-law Delma Allen, Lake Placid, FL, sister-in-law Betty Welch, Arcadia, FL, nieces; Lisa Norris, Susan Melendez, and nephew Reece (Reggie) Welch, great nieces Jennalee (Joe) Newton, Kaylee (Jason) Mills, Alexis Melendez, Isabella Melendez and great nephews Mason and Jack Melendez, Teagan Welch, and great great nieces; Graci and Kalli Edwards. Linda is preceded in death by her father Lloyd Holton, a sister Betty Sue Allen, and a brother Louis Welch. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 4:00PM; Monday, April 8, 2013 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia, FL. Rev. Jimmie Collins will officiate.
