Grady Layton Skinner, age 63 of Arcadia passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at DeSoto Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born September 20, 1949 in Highlands City, FL, and had lived in Arcadia for the past 53 years. He is survived by his sister, Edith Skinner Mercer of Arcadia; brothers, Robert Skinner and wife Patti of Summerville, SC, and Carl Skinner and wife Tami of Arcadia; his sister-in-law Raynae Skinner of Naples; his former wife Janet Skinner of Bartow; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Madeline Skinner; his sister, Willie May Jeffries; and his brother, Lamar Skinner. Visitation will be from3:00pm-4:00pm Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home located at 50 N. Hillsborough Ave in Arcadia. Services will follow the Visitation at 4:00pm in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, with Rev. Ellis Cross officiating. Burial will follow in Joshua Creek Cemetery.
