John E. "Edward" Douglas, 75, of Okeechobee, FL passed away May 10, 2013. Edward was born January 17, 1938 in Fort Myers, FL and lived in DeSoto and Hardee counties over the years. He has called Okeechobee, FL home for the last 15 years. Edward was a jack of all trades and was a mechanic, grove worker, and a recycling "Junkman." He enjoyed tinkering with objects, mowing grass, being outside, visiting with family and spending quality time with his dear wife, Dorothy. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Smith, of Okeechobee, FL and children; Keith Douglas of North Dakota and Ruthie Ezell of Georgia, grandchildren; Tina, Christina, Crystal, J.T. and Cowboy, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; Alan and Nona Hicks Douglas, brother, Sebern Daniel Douglas, Sr., and sister, Jeanette Taylor. A visitation will be held at Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home from 2-3 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, followed by a 3 pm service. Burial will follow at Joshua Creek Cemetery.
